CS Commentary: How The Mighty Have Fallen

Henry Luce, Founder of Time, and Billy Graham, Founder of CT, are now both rolling over in their graves. Two premier publications have sunk to the level of mediocrity and the editors have proven their susceptibility to deception.

The problems with the CT statement on Trump are legion: there are no ‘unambiguous’ ‘facts’ that Trump broke the law or violated the Constitution, Trump has been completely vulnerable and released transcripts of the calls – contrary to tradition and the practice of former Presidents – and the President has not ‘dumbed down morality’ (one thinks of JFK and Lyndon Johnson, notorious ‘Lady’s men’ who had multiple affairs in office, or Nixon, who went after the Democratic Party illegally, or a number of others, Obama included). We have addressed Trump’s Twitter releases elsewhere and CT here proves that they completely misunderstand and misinterpret many of them. As Franklin Graham’s statement declares, before his death Billy Graham fully supported and voted for President Trump.

If impeachment illumines the President’s ‘moral deficiencies’ how is it that Trump is the first President to give back his salary to the government? How has he raised fine, impressive children? Why is it that he supports the Pro-Life movement and stands up for traditional marriage? Why is he the first President to formally recognize Israel by moving the US embassy to Jerusalem and recognize the Golan Heights as a defensible part of Israel? And these are but a few defenses of the President that could be made.

Christianity Today has fallen into darkness and turned righteousness on its head, calling evil good and good evil. ‘How the mighty have fallen.’
