Quote: “Mines concluded that the United States faces a sixty-per-cent chance of civil war over the next ten to fifteen years…Based on his experience in civil wars on three continents, Mines cited five conditions that support his prediction.”
CS Commentary: Usual liberal perspective, quoting a dubious source like the Southern Law Poverty Center, but still an interesting overall perspective, and insightful opinions, like this quote: “The lesson of the war that should never depart from us, is that the American people have no exemption from the ordinary fate of humankind. If we sin, we must suffer for our sins, like the Empires that are tottering and the Nations that have perished.” – Murat Halstead, The War Claims Of The South, 1867

CS Commentary: We were Carly supporters before we were Trump supporters, and we like her. But, the present round of tariffs has no comparison to Smoot Hawley (see Top 5 Reasons for Current Market Correction). In addition, there is no ‘free trade’ currently, ‘without the tariffs’ (since Europe, China and other nations have unilaterally been putting tariffs on US products for decades). To pretend like there is, is ludicrous. Of course, the Chinese are currently at the table because our tariffs are hurting and will hurt their economy. It is hard to know where Carly is coming from with this argument – another run for President in 2020, perhaps? Quote: “For all their deference to one another, the majority of the bishops appear to be good men who are seeking to do justice. But the dark center within that silver lining is the pope who commanded them to stand down. There is a rot and a stench coming from the Vatican..”

Exclusive Poll: Most Trusted News Anchors, Jeremy Barr, Hollywood Reporter
CS Commentary: Here’s a poll that explains a lot. Americans still don’t get that trusting NBC and CNN anchors means that they are buying into leftist propaganda – not only in presentation, but in selection of the news topics. Meanwhile, Greg Gutfeld and Juan Williams at Fox News score highest in the ‘Some trust’ category. Hmm.

Bumblebee, Film Review, Justin Lowe, Hollywood Reporter
CS Commentary: We’d have to give a C+ to the writing, but Hailee Steinfield’s always great performance lifts the film to a B-. As far as the supporting cast goes: What were they thinking? This is no ET, as much as the writer and the director try to aspire to that level.
Mary Poppins Returns, Film Review, Hollywood Reporter
CS Commentary: This review is way too positive from our perspective. Blunt was overly stern and serious throughout and we all kept waiting for just one catchy song – it never came. Best (genuine) musicals of the last decade: The Greatest Showman, and Moulin Rouge, probably in that order.

Fall From Contention: Lost Season For The Falcons, Vaughn McClure, ESPN
CS Commentary: This is a kind, balanced commentary. We still feel that OC Steve Sarkisian is the main problem – though if he’s not fired, then its Quinn – and even if Sark remains and the Falcon’s somehow squeak out a Super Bowl win next year, he’ll still be one of the main problems. Injuries or no injuries, when Matt Ryan has an almost second MVP year with three great wide receivers and the team scores below 30 points so many times, OC is the issue. As far as injuries or player execution goes, well, that’s coaching too.
