Quote: “Mines concluded that the United States faces a sixty-per-cent chance of civil war over the next ten to fifteen years…Based on his experience in civil wars on three continents, Mines cited five conditions that support his prediction.”

CS Commentary: Usual liberal perspective, quoting a dubious source like the Southern Law Poverty Center, but still an interesting overall perspective, and insightful opinions, like this quote: “The lesson of the war that should never depart from us, is that the American people have no exemption from the ordinary fate of humankind. If we sin, we must suffer for our sins, like the Empires that are tottering and the Nations that have perished.” – Murat Halstead, The War Claims Of The South, 1867

Carly Fiorina: The Contrary Opinion Against Tariffs (video, right), Fox Business

CS Commentary: We were Carly supporters before we were Trump supporters, and we like her. But, the present round of tariffs has no comparison to Smoot Hawley (see Top 5 Reasons for Current Market Correction). In addition, there is no ‘free trade’ currently, ‘without the tariffs’ (since Europe, China and other nations have unilaterally been putting tariffs on US products for decades). To pretend like there is, is ludicrous. Of course, the Chinese are currently at the table because our tariffs are hurting and will hurt their economy. It is hard to know where Carly is coming from with this argument – another run for President in 2020, perhaps? For a more sane view on Trump’s policies, see The Game Theory Analysis Of Trump’s Tariff Strategy (video, left), Fox Business

American Millennials Take Note: How Socialism Ruined My Country (video, left), Prager U

CS Commentary: Here’s a poll that explains a lot. Americans still don’t get that trusting NBC and CNN anchors means that they are buying into leftist propaganda – not only in presentation, but in selection of the news topics. Meanwhile, Greg Gutfeld and Juan Williams at Fox News score highest in the ‘Some trust’ category. Hmm.

CS Commentary: We don’t agree that there are more laughs or more of anything in this blander version of the original. Injecting Nicole Kidman probably negatively offsets the character and plot balance – the original role was not emphasized as much – plus the charisma and chemistry of the main actors is somewhere below that of the original as well. Punisher Tries And Fails In Disappointing Second Season On Netflix, Paul Tassi, Forbes

CS Commentary: This review is right on mark up to and including the critique of the character of ‘Amy,’ who we will add is a total mis-cast featuring an actress seriously out of her depth in the part. The season might be good enough for a third season return, but if it is it will be because of the overall strength of the first season. The writing in this second season is mediocre and politically correct and just flat out irrational and circular and, ultimately, boring. The show will need to change direction and writing staff completely to survive, which it probably won’t as another right on review below, attests. Also see, Punisher Season 2 Strange Relic Of Marvel Failures On Netflix, The Ringer; Also see, Punisher Rotten Tomatoes Score Plummets

Quotes Of The Month:

On whether ‘global warming’ is a settled scientific fact:

“There is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gases is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth’s atmosphere and disruption of the Earth’s climate.  Moreover, there is substantial scientific evidence that increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide produce many beneficial effects upon the natural plant and animal environments of the Earth.” – Global Warming Petition Project (aka the Oregon Petition), signed by 31,487 American scientists (9,029 with Ph.D.s)
